Pie Floater Fitzroy. $25 5pm to 9pm

Iconic rendition of South Australia’s infamous pie floater is now available every Tuesday for just $25, where we will be plating up our O’Connor’s Beef Cheek & Guinness Pies, served with pea soup, mash, and our house tomato sauce. The iconic Pie Floater originated in Adelaide in the late 1800's (around the same time the North Fitzroy Arms opened in 1874), where it was sold from street carts as a beef or lamb pie swimming in a pool of pea soup. This legendary rendition struggled to find its way across the Victorian border until recently. Now, we're serving over 500 per week! Our pie recipe is classic - straight from a Country Women's Association cookbook from the 1930’s. The pea soup is now puréed in a Paco Jet to preserve its bright green colour along with the freshness of the parsley, mint and pea tendrils, and served with a dash of malt vinegar. A scoop of mashed dutch cream potatoes ties it all together, along with our house tomato sauce. For those after a vegetarian option, we also have a hearty homemade Vegetable Curry Pie, served with a greens salad, chips, and our house tomato sauce. Tuesday 5pm to 9pm.
