About Prince Alfred
Located just metres from The University of Melbourne, The Prince Alfred Hotel bas been a hub of campus life since 1926, but was closed in 2015.
The 100 Burgers Group, along with the Prince Alfred Collective, took over the 450-person space in 2017 with grand plans for the iconic venue, which has served as a 'watering hole' for Melbourne University students since everyone can remember. A new rooftop bar and terrace has been installed, bringing Melbourne's obsession with rooftop drinking to Carlton.
From the outside, the 1920s exterior has not changed, however the team has worked closely with Hot Black Architects to create a rich and flamboyant interior with a deep blue palate, botanical elements and copper detailing.
On top of being the local pub for students and lecturers, a cafe has also been installed, serving up coffee and grab-n-go foods from 7:30am Monday to Friday.
