The Men's Club, particularly led by Captain Vic Rushby, provided unwavering support and played a pivotal role in establishing resuscitation classes for women.

The women who demonstrated proficiency in life-saving were awarded qualifying certificates, with the highest achiever receiving the prestigious "Maloney Cup," generously donated by the club's patroness, Mrs. A.A. Maloney. The Old Bar Ladies' Surf Club emerged as a trailblazer, paving the way for resuscitation exams for women.
