About Postmaster Hotel

Situated in the historic Kew Post Office building, Postmaster Hotel will quickly become your new favourite haunt.

The gastropub serves honest pub classics, appetisers and sides perfect for sharing. With a number of bars scattered throughout, the choice is yours. A night at Postmaster is a night well spent. From steak night to happy hour, they have a range of deals you’d be mad to miss!

The Postmaster Hotel is situated within the Kew Post Office building, which is a significant landmark site with a rich history. The building was constructed in 1851 on the land of the Wurundjeri people and was originally known as the Kew Court House. Its location is marked by the Kew War Memorial and is surrounded by Melbourne tramlines, making it an essential part of the Kew Junction experience.

The Postmaster Hotel is a Victorian Heritage treasure and the most historic landmark in Kew. The building served as a Post Office until 1995 when it underwent a complete renovation to become the QPO Restaurant. In 2020, the restaurant underwent another transformation to become the Postmaster Hotel, inspired by Mr J.R. Jackson, the first Postmaster at the Kew Post Office.

The Postmaster Hotel pays tribute to its proud history by incorporating subtle references throughout its menu, branding, and naming of spaces. The hotel is proud to preserve the original Kew Post Office's true essence, with its timeless architectural intricacies and connections to Victorian history.
